WORLD´s ELECTRONIC MUSIC LEAGUE IN INTERVIEW:

Iman Gerowgan: Hello Shlomi, how are you?

Shlomi Aber: all is perfect, thanks, its an holiday here, spending some time with the family for a change..

Iman Gerowgan: Releases on Be As One, Ovum, Cocoon, Renaissance - your main labels, dates round the world, remixing / collaborating with top artists, etc. You´re internationally successful but you happily seem to be down to earth, compared to many other top acts.

Shlomi Aber: thank you for the nice words, im doing it all for the music  not for the ego. I have been doing this for the past 17 years and im still feeling I have allot to accomplished., we learning new things every day on this earth.

Iman Gerowgan: Since you were 13 years old, your goal has been to work as a successful fulltime Dj, as you do now. Which other goals do you have in your life?

Shlomi Aber: great question, as a first step I would love to have more time for my old hobbies, as cooking, surfing and playing soccer, or generally more time for myself, for the next step im already starting to think about creating a loving family with my girl.

Iman Gerowgan: What is currently happening on your own label BE AS ONE and how are your plans for the future? By the way, how did it came to this name? ..sounds meaningfull.

Shlomi Aber: the name jutst pop in my head, who knows , maybe its influenced from the area im coming from with all the conflicts around , we have allot of exciting music coming up from some great artists  must to admit we don’t have any game plane for the label future, we doing it for the love of music , good quality music , and not as a buissnes.

Iman Gerowgan: Few words about Dj Sneak.

Shlomi Aber: aaa .. lovely guy , great inspiration for the headz.

Iman Gerowgan: What aspects are important for you, before signing a track on your label?

Shlomi Aber: I never signing a current trends records , im signing only music I think I will be able to play 10 years from now , even if its very modern , still need to have this special extra feel of the old days, we are open to all genres as long it is the right record.

Iman Gerowgan: How do you explore new music and talents? Do you use platforms such as Beatport or Soundcloud? Do you pay attention on Beatport charts?

Shlomi Aber: well .. most of the music is received as promos these days , though I still checking allot of vinyl shops , there is so much amazing music released as vinyl only . though of course im still checking also the digital stores/there is just too much music around.

Iman Gerowgan: What can we expact from you as a producer in the near future?

Shlomi Aber: I just released my new ep with dj sneak on be as one , next will be my album remixes pack on ovum with bunch of great mixes from my friends Josh Wink, Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli , Chris Liebing , Santos & Timo Mass, Michel Cleis

Iman Gerowgan: What makes the Shlomi Aber sound special? ..and which artists have influenced your todays sounds the most.

Shlomi Aber: I managed to have a certain " Shlomi Aber" identity and sound , which is not easy these days with so many producers around , I think it’s a perfect mixture between house and techno , always groovy

Iman Gerowgan: Which artist you´re dreaming to remix or collaborate with, one day?

Shlomi Aber: will be amazing to remix Benfield or depech mode.

Iman Gerowgan: What makes Josh Wink´s OVUM – your second homebase – special for you? ..and which roles plays Josh in your carrer?

Shlomi Aber: I feel like ovum is one of the only open minded labels out there , they releasing abit from everything . releasing music and not genres. which is very rare these days . all the rest are following a certain sound , which makes their releases to sound like a pattern of the last release and so on .

Iman Gerowgan: How do tragedies such as the recent earthquakes, war.. affect you in your productivity?

Shlomi Aber: not at all actually , when im in the studio, I do my best to disconnect myself from the daily news or the real life . just dive into the groove.

Iman Gerowgan: What do you think about following quote: „Music can change the world, because it can change people“ (Bono, U2)?

Shlomi Aber: couldn't agree more , I can definitely say about myself that I would be another person without the music. This is the only thing I know since the age of 13 .

Iman Gerowgan: In your previous interviews we can always read about your girlfriend and how you spend time together. Sweet! Trick question: Does your love inspire and motivate you when you produce new stuff? ;-)

Shlomi Aber: let me just make sure if she is going to read this interview.. before im answering … :-) , Just joking .. love inspiring everything in this world…. Create and ends wars since the beginning of the humanity , im sure it also affect us as people and producers.

Iman Gerowgan: And finally, Summer is knocking on the door..how will you spend you summer and which event are you looking forward to?

Shlomi Aber: it is going to be a very busy summer , festivals like DEMF , TOMOROWLAND , CREMFIELDS , DANCE VALEY and more , not to forget the Ibiza great partys…. Here we come .
